Ah it's remarkable how Nokia knows exactly which buttons to press! The new 6500 Classic housed in anodized aluminium is said by the Nokians to have a polished finish that is individual on each phone so no two phones are identical.
Ultraslim at only 9.5 mm thick and weighing only 94 g (3.3 oz) the candy bar handset of the 6500 measures 110mm x 45mm x 9.5mm offering a generous 1 GB of internal memory and an expansion slot a 2 megapixel camera with video capture/playback at QCIF (I176 x 144 pixel) resolution. It sports a 16 million colour TFT QVGA (240x320 pixel) main display.
It also has a unique configuration of dual-band WCDMA support as well as conventional quad-band GSM/EDGE. It supports the normal 2100MHz band used in Europe and much of the rest of the world as well as one of the two North American UMTS bands: 850MHz. This means that the 6500 Classic should be able to get EDGE data on any GSM network and manage 3G UMTS connections in most parts of the world where available as well.
The Classic supports Bluetooth for wireless connectivity to other devices and polyphonic ringtones and uses the new micro-USB connector for charging headsets and data connectivity. Battery life is stated at a respectable 12.5 days on standby and up to 5.5 hours talk time.
Oh and the display front face of the 6500 is polished (though not yet studded!) with diamonds…
