The RIM Blackberry Curve 8320 combines much of the best of the previous 8300 and 8820. In size and shape it is identical to the original 8300 Curve (107 x 60 x 15.5 mm weighing 111g) with the same thin and light design. However it features a very usable QWERTY keyboard a 2 megapixel camera and a very attractive 320 x 240 pixel display. As well as supporting for GSM voice and EDGE data networks the 8320 adds Wi-Fi with UMA - a technology that enables you to make voice calls over Wi-Fi (wireless 802.11b/g) networks. The 8320 will connect to any 802.11b/g wireless network so you can use your existing router - or increasingly a public hotspot - to make calls and surf the Web. Being able to make calls over Wi-Fi is a great option in areas where cellular service is compromised. For both voice calls and data usage the 8320 defaults to a Wi-Fi network when it is available. On leaving the network's range the phone aims to switch the call seamlessly to the GSM network - and vice versa. As expected with a Blackberry it is an excellent email device with support for 10 separate accounts. The 2 megapixel camera with a flash and a 3 x digital zoom - is good for snaps and quick videos. Other multimedia features include an audio and video player supporting most formats (including MP3 AAC WMA WMV and MP4. From a basic interface the audio quality is surprisingly good and video is excellent.. The device also has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot - although this inconveniently located under the phone's battery. Battery life is rated at four hours of talk time and 408 hours on standby. - Wi-Fi connectivity - Additonal storage via plug-in card slot - QWERTY keypad - 2 megapixel camera - Excellent email and messaging facilities
