Though now a mature example of the genre the LG U890 is still one of the thinnest and lightest 3G phones available (100 x 50 x 17.5 mm and 104g). Similar in many respects to the successful U880 it includes a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash 2 x digital zoom and video and high-quality internal (176 x 220 pixels 262K colours) and external (96 x 96 pixels 65K colours) TFT displays. The camera itself rotates and you can view recorded material in widescreen.
The phone has triband 2G connectivity as well as being 3G and supports GPRS and EDGE for fast downloads via a WAP 2 browser as well as SMS and MMS messaging plus email.
It offers MP3 music playback with support for MP3 AAC Enhanced AAC+ AMR and WAV formats dedicated exterior music buttons and plenty of memory in the form of a TransFlash memory card slot (expandable to 512 Mbytes). It also supports stereo music via Bluetooth so you can listen to music wirelessly in full stereo with a pair of compatible headphones.
Battery life is not great - but that is to be expected for a 3G phone - rated at 130 hours standby and four hours of talk time.
